CAPE Election Results—Incumbents Prevail, Bylaws Amendment Approved!
The 2011-2012 CAPE Board of Directors Election ballots were tallied on Wednesday evening, August 31st, at the CAPE office. The vote tally was overseen by California Elections Company, an independent election vendor, and assisted by CAPE member volunteers of the CAPE Nominating and Election Committee.
This year seven candidates competed for five open seats on the Board. All five incumbents – Carlos Clayton, DPW; Barbara Volz, DPW; Kenneth Roberts, DPW; Luis Orendain Jr., Assessor; and Joshua Huntington, Regional Planning — were reelected by the membership to serve another two-year term.
The Board wishes to thank this year’s challengers for their willingness to serve our union!
Bylaws Amendment Approved!
This year’s Board Election Ballot also included an amendment vote of the CAPE Bylaws. The Bylaws Amendment creates a new “Member at Large” category of CAPE membership for members who transfer or promote out of the CAPE Bargaining Units. “Members at Large” can continue to receive limited member benefits, but they can no longer participate in or influence decisions impacting CAPE Bargaining Unit matters. The Bylaws Amendment was approved by 75% of voting members.
